Spoosh: I felt as though I was being summoned, computer has died twice and don't have the funds to fix or replace it now so don't have GIMP to put finishing touches but wanted to do this for a while now.

- Reply
Megatron: Summoning really works apparently. Great stuff

- Reply
Artist_Santanon: @Spoosh: So are you borrowing someone's computer or using one in the public library? If it's a friend's maybe you could convince them to let you download Gimp since it's free to download.

Anonymous1: Yes, Spoosh comic.

I wish we would get a follow-up comic showing Dorothy living its last day inside the biohazard removal bin with a dozen other foals with broken limbs crying in pain and wallowing in their own filth.

- Reply
leon2040: Even more amazing, is that this appears to take very little time. From first call-out to a catatonic state in presumably minutes.

Perhaps Dorothy was a little too socialized?
- Reply
BadMunsta: If she wanted attention, she shouldn't have been born the color of poopies.

DeadFluffyStorage: Google Harry Harlow Monkey Experiment.

It was a sad, awful experiment that involved a newborn monkey baby in a cage with a metal wire "mother" with just a feeding bottle with a rubber nipple. It also held a metal wire "mother" but was covered in soft cloth to feel warm and alive, and made vocal motherly noises on a recording loop, but it otherwise was identical to the metal wire monkey.
In this experiment, the baby ALWAYS chose the "furry" warm mother, even when the human Harlow would force it to choose between going hungry with the artificially warmed, soft cloth "mother" and the cold inanimate "mother" structure that held a milk bottle.
The conclusion was that the baby required love and nurture from a living mammal more than it did food.

There was also an experiment involving many types of mammals... including abandoned newborn human babies. Two babies of each mammal species including raccoons, mice, rabbits, puppies, hedgehogs, ferrets, bear cubs, kittens, guinea pigs, lambs, etc.
One of each species, say a kitten, was placed in a cage with food, water and toys from birth. One was left completely isolated and alone, though with toys for stimulation. It was fed by hand as required until weaned, but otherwise completely ignored, handled with rubber gloves, and only seeing other life when a hand reached in to clean, change bedding or water/food/toys. The other kitten was fed and watered the exact same amount and placed in an exact replica of the other kitten's habitat, but this one was cuddled, talked too and held and played with, and shown human love and warmth.
Eventually, every mammal species (INCLUDING the human baby) though provided adequate toys, food, water, open air etc. but DEPRIVED of any contact, socialization, playing with, cooed to and shown love and just generally isolated since birth, every single animal in that control group died before reaching adulthood.

It's making me tear up as I explain this.

The cruel conclusion PROVED that instinct of animal mothers licking their babies to clean them, cooing or otherwise vocalizing towards their babies, and physically being shown "love" through cuddling, sleeping close (fluffpile!), discipline and socialization with a parent or nurse or human or siblings, basically without LOVE a sentient, emotional and healthy mammal baby will die without being assured it's loved, or to be scientific, isolation causes the mammal baby such distress that it develops poorly and eventually dies from loneliness.

Look it up yourself. It's very true and very, extremely sad.

DevilSlayerUno: @DeadFluffyStorage: I remember reading that in an old science encyclopedia when I was like 5.

Good lord I feel old
- Reply
Anonymous23: I don't think fluffies would go into catatonia from lack of social interaction within minutes like that

Maybe weeks, but not minutes

- Reply
wolfram_sparks: you made the second panel slight smaller than the first you fucking irresponsible faggot

besides that, nice comic

Anonymous28(22): @Aichi: Yeah, I know. I've actually seen Mwike comment on some things before. I figured that Spoosh was just lurking, but wasn't sure if he'd ever "come back" and create more art. I'd just like Mwike to make more art, too.

DeadFluffyStorage: @DevilSlayerUno: Don't feel too old, I'm in my mid twenties and remember my father encouraging me to read our bookshelf full of encyclopedias. Plus nowadays, with middle aged cougar women and old, wealthy men with teen trophy wives, I figure 30 is the new 18. ^-^

DeadFluffyStorage: Oh and yeah, jesus, Hey Spoosh. Haven't seen new content from you in four forevers.

toran: It's awesome to see one of the all time greats back again!
- Reply
toran: I really like your headcanon as well. I've always been a big fan of fluffies needing social interaction to simply exist.

- Reply
Jman: @Anonymous: I agree with this. but any comic with abuse is nice. even if I dont fully agree with it.
- Reply
IsTeaTimeDoctor: I like it. This experiment at least somewhat resembles the real-life experiment DeadFluffyStorage mentioned. The only thing that I think that could have been put in the comic was a time stamp for each panel to indicate when each phase began and how long each phase lasted (ex: "Huggie Legs" Phase began 10 minutes after the experiment started and lasted for 15 minutes, "Dancing" phase began 30 minutes after the experiment started and lasted for 20 minutes, etc.). Other then that good job Spoosh.

FractalFluff: @DeadFluffyStorage: Yeah, I flashed onto Harlow's poor bloody rhesus monkeys when I read this. It also made me think of the infants in Tronick's "still face" experiments: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=apzXGEbZht0

- Reply
Spoosh: @FractalFluff: that was in the source before it was changed to "your mum"

- Reply
FractalFluff: @Spoosh: Ah, right. Yes, that your mum person was certainly helpful.

- Reply
PETN: spoosh, I love the way you portray the facial expressions and body language of suffering fluffies. i'll never get tired of your art.

@IsTeaTimeDoctor: I imagine the time interval increasing with each panel as the fluff becomes more despondent...maybe it spends half an hour doing the "huggie legs", followed by, say, an hour trying to 'dance' until its hooves bleed, then eventually ending with several days straight of hoof-sucking/huu-huuing before finally being unceremoniously disposed of.

Maybe it's just me, but it's always so satisfying when a fluffy is tossed into the trash....reducing it to the same level of worthlessness as banana peels, floor sweepings, expired food from the fridge, used condoms, etc. Even better when it's still alive, thus giving it ample time to cry and shit itself in the dark, stinky environment as it begs for the forgiveness and 'wuv' it will never get.

- Reply
NuSkettieFowYou: So I'm curious, could you show it attention before it goes catatonic to revert it back to stage one and repeat the process over and over? Or would doing it again instantly revert to the infantile hoof sucking state?

- Reply
Spoosh: @NuSkettieFowYou: infantile state is the last chance, but be warned repeating this process could result in derpism
- Reply
Thestrangeman: Ill just dig out the foal and take it.

Anonymous30: @Spoosh: would it damaged it's brain?
